Our Requirements

We welcome all candidates who meet or exceed the following requirements to apply for consideration for any of our Colorado-based positions:

• Minimum of 2 years of professional, verifiable experience in your chosen field
• Proven track record in your field (commitment to a few long-term positions)
• Positive professional and personal references
• Reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance
• CPR and First Aid certification (or willing to renew prior to hire)
• At least 18 years old and a high school graduate (4-year degree preferred)
• Authorized to work in the U.S.
• Non-smoker
• Desire to commit to a great Colorado family and achieve true work-life balance

WHAT’S “PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE”?

It’s experience that is outside of your own home/family that can be verified. It can paid or unpaid, full or part-time, but we need to be able to contact someone (who you’re not related to) for a reference. As in all professions, the more in-home experience you have, especially in the last 10 years, the more likely you are to find a job.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?

The truth: it really depends on your experience, your requirements, the current job market and more. Some candidates find a new job in a week, others may interview for a month, and a few may never find the right job. The good news: we’re here to help, and the sooner you find your dream job the better for us all!

ARE FAMILIES SCREENED, TOO?

You bet. We want to know as much about them as we know about you. Our clients are pre-screened over the phone, submit a detailed family application, and meet with one of our consultants for an in-depth consultation, often in their home, to determine if their needs and wants are a match for our agency.

EMPLOYEE OR I-9?

With few exceptions, the IRS classifies in-home staff as household employees; and holds true no matter how you find your job (agency, referral, online etc). When you accept a longterm position through ABC you will be paid as an employee of the family, professionally and legally. Trust us: taking cash is not good for anyone.

DO YOU TAKE A CUT OF MY PAY?

No, absolutely not. ABC operates similarly to a traditional staffing company. We are paid when our client (the family) hires an employee (that’s you) through our agency. The fee is separate from your wage and will not impact your compensation. So nope, our service is actually free to you, no tricks, no gimmicks, free.

AM I OBLIGATED TO TAKE A JOB?

No. We want you to find your dream job, and while we’d like it to be with an ABC family we understand if it’s not. Instead, what we ask is that you’re honest with us about what you need and if/when you are interviewing for other jobs so we can respond accordingly.
